DESCRIPTION:Join Queer Shed Béal Feirste for this decolonial history worksh
op to discover\nBelfast's Medieval artifiacts and reimagine them through c
lay!\n\nPrehistoric iron sword found around High Street ... neolithic axes
at City\nAirport … old town defences under Victoria Square … could there
be Gaelic castle\nfoundations under Dunnes Stores?\n\nBéal Feirste’s past
is long and buried (literally). Artefacts from our oldest\,\nand for some
inconvenient\, history have already been found beneath our\nbuildings\, sh
ops and streets and Archaeologists believe that much more could\nstill be
buried for us to rediscover. Under the lives we live around town today\,\n
a whole Medieval world could wait. Join Queer Shed Béal Feirste for this\n
decolonial history workshop to excavate and reimagine some of our earliest
\npossibilities.\n\nThe workshop will start with a talk from local history
	 tour guide Derbhla\nMcDermott (derbhla.ie [http://derbhla.ie]) exploring
archaeological digs across\nour town\, what has been found\, and what coul
d still be waiting patiently for us\nto claim. Then Ceramicist Laura Potts
(pot.t.s) will be on hand to guide us in\ncreating our own ancient Belfas
t artefact in clay\, drawing from examples of the\ncool/weird/interesting
Medieval things found around Belfast\, the rest of Ireland\nor wherever ou
r imagination takes us. This is a shared history for us to build\nin our h
ands\, rediscover and reinvent in whatever new ancient ways we feel like.\
n\nEveryone’s clay artefacts will be kiln fired by Laura\, and then a furt
her date\narranged for collection after the workshop.\n\n★ HISTORY IS NOW
